new idea!

last night i was laying in bed pondering a good summer project (the steering wheel cover is still on my list of to dos) but i specifically want to do a summer project that is unusual and experimental. so here's my idea...knitting rugs out of strips of fabric. i was thinking that i could cut all of my random fabric into strips and knit it using some fat needles - knit 8 inch strips whatever length i choose them sew all of the strips together by hand, add some fringe, and poof - homemade rugs. does anyone know anything about this/heard of it/tried it/think it may or may not work??? any tips would be much appreciated!! I'll start this week and post some pictures asap.

to felt or not to felt

i've never felted before...and i want to. i have a bag half-finished (of course) knitted out of a pretty pink wool - highland by harrisville. and before i finish the bag and attempt to felt i would like a practice felt project - something small and simple but still useful, because i'm not wasting nice wool!! and to my delight i've just discovered more highland yarn stashed away in my closet (from my days working at my yarn shop and receiving that wonderful discount). so now...the real question...what to knit with this found wool to practice felting?

for now my knitting must be put aside as i outline for finals (crim law at the moment). but i think i can make time for some pattern searching...

some possibilities:
felted catnip mice for ludo
felted mancala board from knitty.com - http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter04/PATTmancalamia.html - but do i have enough yarn and is this really a small project??? i have two skeins of highland two shades of green.

no scratches!

a little sidenote...my ipod was starting to get covered in scraches as i threw it in my bag, in my car, etc. i used to pattern from stitch 'n bitch to make a cover - velcro closure with a decorative button. the yarn is a combination of nice scraps (from my days woring at my local yarn shop and receiveing a discount). from what i can remember, it's koigu, one of the ladder yarns, and one of the more quality eyelash yarns.

the koigu is a personal favorite...maybe it's time i make some socks???

my friend jenn just received some legwarmers i made her - pattern from knitty.com - she'll hopefully send me a picture soon and i'll post it. the pattern was pretty jacked up with the yarn i was using - i made the biggest size and still have to add another few inches by crocheting a little patch in the back as i sewed the edges together. they're still a bit short so hopefully jenn will attmempt to crochet a contrasting border!!

i still haven't added much to my sweater - after finals i'll go hardcore and get it done - it's long sleeved but cropped so it will be a good sweater to bring and throw on in an airconditioned building this summer.

little green project

after searching for the perfect cropped sweater i've finally discovered a decent pattern in the winter 2005/06 issue of vogue knitting. i didn't want to spend days with cable and wasn't ambitious enough to modify a cardigan.

it's 1x1 rib and i'm using lion brand wool ease - with law school finals just around the corner i didn't want to spend a lot of money on what is for me an overly ambitious project. and any wool that's machine washable and dryable - works for me.

i'll keep posting on the progress...the picture is the top portion of the sweater about 1/3 complete.

the beginning of my knitting blog.

perhaps a little bit of background? ludo is my cat that i adopted from the humane society nearly 10 months ago! he's a little over a year old, spoiled rotten (as i am constantly reminded), and my relaxation from life.

loes helped out with the name of the blog (thanks).

i'll soon begin displaying my current knitting projects.
